Astana Tazalyk LLP Organizes Press Tour in the Capital
One of the key issues on Astana’s environmental agenda — improving sanitary cleanliness and ensuring transparency in the work of municipal services — became the main focus of the event.
In addition to media representatives, the press tour brought together environmental experts, bloggers and civic activists. Participants were introduced to modern equipment used to maintain the city’s sanitary conditions and were given a tour of the company’s operational facilities. Industry specialists also exchanged views with the guests.
Astana is a rapidly developing modern metropolis, with large-scale construction projects, infrastructure modernization and a growing number of vehicles. These developments increase the human impact on the environment and require not only systematic efforts by municipal services but also a high level of environmental awareness among residents and businesses.
The situation is particularly challenging near construction sites, industrial facilities and major roads with heavy traffic.
One Day Without Cleaning: Experiment Results
During the press tour, Zamir Saginov, General Director of Astana Tazalyk LLP, spoke about an experiment conducted to demonstrate the level of cleanliness culture in the capital.
“At the request of blogger Batyrzhan, we conducted a small but revealing experiment to provide a clear picture of the environmental situation in the city. For one day, cleaning was deliberately suspended along one of the central sections of Mangilik El Avenue — from Kerey and Zhanibek Khans Street to the Mangilik El Triumphal Arch,” he said.
The data collected during the experiment provided an indication of environmental awareness in the city and raised serious concerns:
Cigarette butts — 6,112
Aluminium cans — 658
Banana peels — 78
Paper waste — 343
Ice cream wrappers — 436
These figures reflect not only the scale of everyday littering but also habits related to cleanliness in daily urban life. The large number of cigarette butts is of particular concern, as they remain one of the most common types of street litter and negatively affect both the appearance of the city and the environment.
According to Zamir Saginov, the experiment clearly demonstrated that without a change in residents’ attitudes towards public spaces, even systematic efforts by municipal services alone cannot deliver sustainable results.
Another important outcome of the press tour was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Astana Tazalyk LLP and the College of Professional Technologies.
The memorandum provides for the training of qualified specialists in sanitary services and urban improvement. For the first time, college students have been given the opportunity to undertake paid practical training at Astana Tazalyk. The program is expected to be expanded in the future, providing similar opportunities to students from other specialized educational institutions.
Participants were also introduced to a digital monitoring system designed to improve the transparency and safety of the company’s cleaning operations.
According to Dastan Musabekov, Head of the Vehicle Monitoring Department at Astana Tazalyk LLP, all company vehicles are equipped with next-generation GPS navigation systems, enabling real-time monitoring of vehicle routes and driver activity.
“Today, the system records not only the location of each vehicle but also any deviations from assigned routes, prolonged stops and unusual situations. Even if a driver falls asleep at the wheel, the system will automatically detect it. These technologies help improve discipline while reducing risks related to road safety and the quality of cleaning operations,” said Dastan Musabekov.
